Taking Off

Our flights are booked and we are now set to leave on Wednesday, October 16th! It’s hard to believe we no longer live in Montreal so leaving Canada will certainly be a big adjustment but we’re excited. Leaving is always hard but we hadn’t realized how much of a community we'd developed in Montreal until it was time to say goodbye. We both loved our jobs and had fallen into a wonderful little routine of work, friends, and experiencing the city. When we made the decision to move to Bolivia, saying goodbye to our Montreal community became a reality very quickly. Leaving was filled with hugs and tears, but we received an overwhelming amount of support from our church community at Côte-des-Neiges and from other Montreal friends.  

For the past month we have split our time between Regina and Yorkton in order to visit with our families and reconnect with our home churches of Westhill Park Baptist and Yorkton Alliance. Fundraising for ourselves has been an interesting experience as we've found that relying on others to provide the money we’ll need to live on to be both terrifying and humbling. That being said, through the generosity of so many great people we've collected enough to get us started.

Now after a month of visits, coffees, and fundraising, it’s time to start saying goodbye again. There are lots of unknowns ahead of us but we’re excited to start saying “hola” to our new life in Bolivia.
