Our K-12 school also had its Christmas concert this past week. It’s awesome to see all of the students so excited and pulling out their dramatic side. Tim had a particularly good time working as stage crew with students and prepping the anxious actors.
We also joined some Bolivian friends this past Saturday who provide a kids club for their community each weekend. In a neighborhood that had no parks and a high level of poverty, this group organizes activities such as soccer, kids’ games, a playground structure, and even wall climbing for youth and their families. The program regularly has over 700 attendants but this past week there were over one thousand. As part of a Christmas celebration, we were also able to give out food to kids and their families. Each person was given a bun and a bag of milk to start with and then each kid received a small present (either a toy truck or a stuffed animal). Families who regularly attended also received a bucket full of food supplies (flower, oil, rice, etc.) and a large bag of sugar.
It was incredible to see so many people enjoying themselves, spending time with family, and gratefully receiving what little we could offer them. I am convinced that events like this bless those who give as much as those who receive. We hope you too are able to give and receive joy, faith, hope and love this Christmas season.
